In this Stop Motion Animation workshop, middle school students explored environmental issues impacting their communities, created a call to action, and produced stop-motion animations to communicate a message to a wider audience. This 3-day workshop was done at the Autry Museum in Los Angeles in collaboration with the Zimmer Children’s Museum (now the Cayton Children’s Museum). Students engaged in research, theater games, team-building exercises, idea development, scripting, and storyboarding, and learned the fundamentals of stop-motion animation to create short films about issues important to them. Final projects were showcased at Sony Studios. Jill designed the curriculum and facilitated the workshop alongside YouThink’s Director of Education.
